The Board of Directors has scheduled Men’s and Women’s walks in October and March 2018 and an additional Women’s Walk in April. God has blessed us in so many ways. Now as we enjoy our summer break, I have a two-fold challenge for the Aldersgate Community.
- We need to fill our upcoming walks. That means we look to the community to prayerfully identify couples and singles in your community who are good candidates for the Walk to Emmaus.
- Like other Christian communities, we must always be aware that we include the younger community. Without younger pilgrims to carry on the amazing grace our walks offer, we will not be able to sustain our mission. The Church needs lay leadership to grow and thrive and meet the needs of this troubled world. Think about the younger couples in your church who might be ready to take the next step toward lay leadership. While we welcome older Pilgrims, it is really younger church attendees who will become the lifeblood of the future.
So who make good candidates for the walk? We are not looking for saints; we are simply seeking Christians who are looking for a deeper relationship with Christ. Won’t you help us fulfill our mission and invite those who may benefit from the weekend to attend one of our upcoming walks? When you invite them tell them what the walk has meant in your life and the positive changes that have resulted.
